Alexander Stansky
April 3, 1984 - June 15, 2003
Not sure if Alex ever knew or met Carlos, but if he had, they would have found a lot in common with their character and personalities. Like Carlos, Alex was into sports as co-captain of his high school basketball team and member of his freshman track and field team. Also a member of his high school band (tuba) and an avid electronics geek. And above all this, he was a kind and gentle soul that cared more about others rather than himself as he battled Ewings Sarcoma. Mostly shy, he embraced the one-on-one conversations with his friends and family, and as his basketball coach said, "He became the teacher and we, his students".
Today, he is still remembered each autumn when his dad and sister participate in the annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Ironically, Alex walked for 6 years prior to being sick, and just like Carlos, he tried his best to bring awareness to his fight so that others would benefit.
Yes, these two would have gotten along just fine, and yes, Alex mischievous side would have shown up, too!
If Alex were here today, I am sure he would love to support and participate in the events of the CRS Foundation. In his memory, why not donate or participate in this year's events, he'd love that!
